Gina Stephens, FNP-BC
Gina Stephens, FNP-BC, has joined SLV Health’s Pediatrics Clinic, providing healthcare for children under the age of 18. She is highly motivated to provide excellent care effectively for the wellbeing of all patients. She has been a nurse since 2003 and completed her Family Nurse Practitioner degree while working, raising a family of four, studying, and handling her practicums during a pandemic while giving back to her community.
Gina graduated summa cum laude with her Master of Science in Nursing (FNP) from the Frontier Nursing University of Versailles, Kentucky. She received her BS in nursing, graduating cum laude from the University of Colorado, Denver where her commencement speech was published in the Journal for Specialists in Pediatric Nursing. She completed her B.A. in Kinesiology at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
She recently was employed as the school nurse for Sargent School District in Monte Vista where she worked in conjunction with National Jewish addressing pediatric asthma in the Valley. She completed her clinical rotations with providers from Valley-Wide Health Systems, San Luis Valley Health, and Pediatric Associates in Montrose.
Gina moved to Alamosa with her husband, Joe Stephens, 11 years ago when he accepted a position as a Physical Therapist at San Luis Valley Health. A month later, her sister, Carissa Tripi, DO, accepted a position as an Orthopedic Surgeon for SLVH. She loves spending time with her family and friends, especially outdoors, and in particular hiking, paddle boarding, dining, and camping.
