We Treat Patients of All Athletic & Fitness Levels
SLV Health Sports Medicine is a collective group dedicated to providing services to active individuals, athletes, and individuals dealing with physical fitness; and the treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise.
Athletic Training
Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care providers who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
Bumps and Bruises Clinic
This service is sponsored by SLV Health at no cost to the high school student-athlete to address minor injuries and pains. At these convenient locations, students will be evaluated and referred if necessary without having to make an appointment. SLV Health’s Trainers provide assessments to students in the following locations.

A high school coach, athletic director or other school administrator may request an Athletic Trainer for game, tournament, or practice medical coverage.
Functional Movement Clinic
Monthly clinic screenings for athletes are offered by SLV Health Pro Therapy Department. They are one-on-one screenings to determine injury risk and to suggest specific exercises to improve performance and decrease injury risk.
Injury Prevention Camps
Teams and coaches can set up an entire Saturday injury prevention camp. Student-Athletes will be instructed in correct lifting techniques, correct movement patterns that are SPORTS SPECIFIC and mobility strategies to decrease the likelihood of injury. Camps include a free t-shirt for each participant and a free lunch provided by SLV Health. Contact Justin Fricke (719) 589-8046 to set up a weekend for these camps.
Jump Training and ACL Injury Prevention Training Clinics
Programs are offered to teams that are at risk of injury due to the type of sports they play. Therapists assess the risk of injury, give safety recommendations for training, instruct correct jumping/landing techniques and give recommendations for strengthening, plyometrics and balance training to avoid injury.
Coaches can request for a physical therapist to attend a practice or game to assess an individual player or the team for injury risk or abnormal movement patterns.
Treatment
The Orthopedic Clinic at San Luis Valley Health offers a wide array of services, including sports medicine, chiropractic and acupuncture services.
Injuries We Evaluate and Treat:
- Traumatic injuries to bones, such as fractures and dislocations
- Disturbances in joints
- Sports injuries, sprains, and strains
- Inflammation of muscles or connective tissue
- Arthroscopic surgery
- Joint replacement surgery
- Non-surgical treatment options for arthritis
Rehab
Physical Therapy and Chiropractic Consult at SLV Health’s Pro Therapy Clinic:
Referrals can be made by any provider to assist in diagnosing the source
of pain and repetitive injury in the spine and extremities, decreasing
pain, rehabilitating an injury or to restore elite function.
