The mission of the Behavioral Health Department at San Luis Valley Health is to improve the health of all patients by integrating behavioral health and medical services. Through counseling and therapy, we can help address the root of your problems and find new ways to tackle them.
Our department offers treatment and support for a variety of things including:
- Health-Related Stressors
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Substance Abuse Issues
- Grief & Loss
- Family-Related Stressors
- Work-Related Stressors
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
An Integrated Approach to Treatment
No one can claim to have the one, sure-fire treatment for a behavioral health disorder. These matters are very personal, and finding the right course of treatment requires collaboration with a medical professional who will take the time to better understand you.
Medication can be valuable during the course of your treatment to help manage symptoms. Our therapists work alongside our primary care providers to closely mange antidepressants. We are here to help with a referral to psychiatry if other medication needs are indicated. It's important to remember that medications do not address the core issues but can help manage symptoms and make it easier to do the work in therapy.
