The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, ACA, was signed into law on March 23, 2010 in an effort to improve the health of Americans. Since then, there has been a lot of confusion and misunderstandings about what is in the law and what affect it will have on individuals and family's ability to access and pay for health care services.
Gena Akers, project coordinator for GetHealthySLV.org, is interviewed by Liza Marron, Director of the San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition and monthly host of Health Lines, a radio show on KRZA.
What is the Interview About?
Gena explains how the Affordable Care Act changes health care in four main ways:
- Health care services
- Physical activity and nutritious food
- Mental well-being
After providing an overview of the Affordable Care Act, Gena explains in detail how Connect for Health Colorado, the state's health insurance marketplace, will work and when it will open for business.
