Cohort 19 Nurse Residency Graduation
SLV Health
Alamosa, CO – San Luis Valley Health proudly celebrated the graduation of Nurse Residency Cohort 19, marking an important milestone for two newly licensed nurses who completed the rigorous year-long residency program.
Monica Hinds, the keynote speaker, inspired the graduates by emphasizing the deeper meaning of their profession. “Always remember why you chose this path. Nursing is not a job, it’s a calling,” Hinds said. “This graduation is not the end, but the beginning of an incredible career.”
The two graduates, David Corvera, RN, and Lyn Limboy, RN, showcased their evidence-based care project focused on music therapy and its significant impact on pain management for patients. Their project demonstrated how the use of music can improve patient comfort and contribute to better overall care outcomes, reflecting the program’s emphasis on research and best practices.
The residency program lasts a full year, beginning with a twelve-week phase of intensive training with preceptors. Afterward, residents participate in monthly meetings where they continue to refine their skills and focus on essential nursing concepts. As part of the program, each resident completes a capstone project based on evidence-based practices, providing them with the expertise and confidence to thrive in their profession.
San Luis Valley Health is dedicated to nurturing the future of healthcare through its Nurse Residency Program, ensuring that the community continues to benefit from high-quality, compassionate care.
