Christmas Stockings for December Newborns at SLVH Regional Medical Center Brings Joy
SLV Health
SLV Health’s RMC Labor and Delivery team would like to thank the Alamosa Round-Up for providing these adorable stockings and caps for the December newborns! Pictured is Chesni Bechaver, shared with mom Alivia’s permission.
The Alamosa Round-Up, led by Honeycutt Rodeo, started the Alamosa Christmas Light Parade in 2011 after traveling back from the Wrangler NFR in 2010. They were driving through Espanola and got caught in the traffic from their Christmas Light Parade. They decided that if they could do it, so could we in Alamosa. It has been such an amazing gift to see the joy in our community that this parade brings with the help from the Alamosa Round-Up Committee!
The newborn stocking inspiration was from when their oldest son Dawson was born with some complications. After a week in an Arizona hospital, they took him home on Christmas Eve in a Christmas Stocking. It meant the world to them, and now they are thankful to continue the tradition after so many years here in Alamosa. This year, in 2023, Dawson will be 20 years old on Dec 17th. The Honeycutts tease him that for his birthday they throw him a Christmas Light Parade.
Over the years, the Honeycutt Rodeo has been able to donate hundreds of Christmas Stockings, and Christmas caps, and in the past two years, they added baby candy cane socks.
“It is such a fun way to tell the youngest in our community that they are a blessing and that we are so thankful for them,” commented Dawn Honeycutt.
“It is only because of the extreme generosity of our community and sponsors that we can continue this fun tradition! Last year we had almost 60 floats. We can’t wait to see what this year will bring.”
The downtown Alamosa Parade of Lights is scheduled for Saturday, December 23 at 6:00 p.m.
