SLV Health's Biggest Fundraiser to Date - 2022 Bolos & Boots
San Luis Valley Health’s 18th annual Bolos and Boots was the largest fund-raising event to date for the healthcare organization, raising over $70,000 for the pharmacy and expanding its capacity for better cancer treatments.
This year, over 165 attendees gathered to support SLV Health and many participated in the both the live and paddle auctions in support of this year’s cause. Alamosa State Bank also provided a $15,000 match.
In addition to the fundraising, two awards were given during the evening. The first was the Appreciation Award, presented to Dr. Jason Allen, a radiologist at SLV Health since 2015. Not only did he start the breast-screening program, but he also advocated for the addition of the 3-D mammography machine. His work has contributed greatly to the health of women all over the San Luis Valley.
The second award, the Adamson Award, went to the Holder Family. When patriarch, Larry Holder, lost his battle with cancer in 2015, the family donated over $10,000 for caregiver chairs for the SLV Health Cancer Center. The money was raised during Larry’s memorial in lieu of flowers so no one would have to go through cancer treatments alone.
The Holder family also supports the Larry Holder Exercise and Cancer Survivorship Program, hosted by Adam State University’s Department of Kinesiology, by raising money at the annual Glow Ball Tournament.
