Special Concert for a Special Cause
People were treated to a concert for a special cause on December 18, 2022, at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.
The San Luis Valley Health Foundation held its annual fundraiser to help the Labor and Delivery Department. The SLV Health Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to helping health professionals provide the best care they can.
Proceeds from donations and fundraisers help patients who can't afford to pay for services, buy equipment and provide the special services of Stephanie L. Miner Women's Imaging Center for mammograms, and the San Luis Valley Health Cancer Center.
The concert featured the talented members of the Sandie Wehe Music Studio. This local music studio reached out to the San Luis Valley five years ago to do a charity event for the community and has participated in the fundraiser ever since.
This year's theme was "Christmas in the Movies." Performers ages 3 years old and older delighted the audience with renditions of "Where Are You, Christmas?" from the movie "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," and classics like "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" from "Home Alone 2."
The concert showcased movies from the 1940's to present. The students of the Sandie Wehe Music Studio are from all over the San Luis Valley and gave a moving performance.
The event raised over $5,000. This money will help the patients in the Labor and Delivery Department.
