Stephanie L. Miner Walk goes virtual
Maria holds up a Stephanie L. Miner shirt at City Market in Alamosa. The store has generously donated space and time to help sell shirts to San Luis Valley residents.
This year, the 17th annual Stephanie L. Miner 5K Walk and Run will take place virtually from Friday, Sept. 11 and conclude on Sunday, September 20, 2020,
Participants are encouraged to wear their Stephanie L. Miner 5K Walk and Run shirts anytime during this time.
This year's virtual walk will have a pirate theme, and the first 800 participants will also receive a bootie bag with hand sanitizer, a matching mask, and a treasure map marking photo locations around Alamosa that will have a pirate prop to take pictures in front of.
The San Luis Valley Health Foundation now has a Facebook page for participants to send photos to, called SLVH Foundation.
Another tradition that can be found on the Facebook page is the annual Stephanie L. Miner Quilt Auction, where a photo of the quilt is posted.
“We are excited to be able to bring these traditions to everyone in a fun and safe way,” said SLV Health Foundation Director Kelly Gurule. “We hope everyone has as much fun participating as we did creating it.”
All proceeds benefit the SLV Health Regional Medical Center. Registration for the walk is $30 per person, and teams of 10 or more can pre-register for $25 per person.
You can register for the walk, or make a bid on the quilt, by calling Kelly Gurule at the SLVH Foundation at 719-587-5707.
