Bolos and Boots event a boot-stomping success
The 16th Annual Bolo and Boots, the signature fundraising event for the SLV Health Foundation, was held on Friday, July 19 at the Alamosa Recreation Center’s Multi-Purpose Building. The event this year not only included dinner catered by Mountain View Restaurant in Monte Vista, but more than 200 guests were also able to enjoy VIP seating for a special Ranch Rodeo that pitted four teams against each other.
Not only did the Foundation benefit from the sales of Bolos and Boots tickets, but also from the ticket sales for the ranch rodeo, which was opened up for the general public to enjoy. In addition, volunteers from Helping Hands manned the concession booth, with all profits going back to help fund them. By the end of the event, the Foundation raised more than $55,000.
“The generosity of our donors and the community exceeded all of my expectations,” said Kelly Gurule, Director of the SLVH Foundation. “The community always rallies around our needs, and the amazing turnout for not only Bolos and Boots, but also for the Ranch Rodeo, is just one of many examples.”
The money raised by the Foundation will go towards the 3-D mammography unit in the Stephanie L. Miner Women’s Imaging Center in SLV Health in Alamosa.
One of the many highlights of the evening was the recognition of this year’s Adamson Award recipients, Jan and Del Gay, for their enduring support for the organization.
Jan has been on the operating board of SLV Health since 1996, and was instrumental in the establishment of the hospital’s SLV Health Ambassador Program. Del Gay has been a strong supporter of the hospital, as both a volunteer and as an attendee of multiple events.
