SLV Health will be celebrating the 2nd Annual Lids for Kids event on Thursday June 29th from 4-6:30pm at Cole Park in Alamosa. Lids for Kids is a bike and helmet giveaway and safety event hosted by SLV Health. Children of all ages are eligible to have their name drawn to win a brand new bicycle and helmet.

Also, as a part of our new Trauma Level 3 status, we needed to provide an injury prevention outreach project. Julie Ramstetter-Trauma Coordinator reached out to Centura who agreed to donate 250 helmets. From that donation, stemmed the idea of giving away bikes to the youth in our community. From generous donations from SLV Health staff and SLV Health Volunteer Services, we were able to purchase over 100 bikes last year! This year there will be 200 bikes for children to win.

Last year, more than 1,000 people attended the event and met our Alamosa Firefighters, Alamosa EMS crew, Alamosa Police and the SLV Health crew. Come see our Eagle Air helicopter land at 2 PM, and have the chance to tour the helicopter.

Children will receive a free sno-cone or ice cream when they register for the bike drawing. Elks Lodge will be handing out Child Print ID kits. A BBQ will be available for a small donation to benefit SLV Health’s Helping Hands program. Children will have a chance to mingle with the clinical staff and doctors of SLV Health, and the Alamosa Fire Department will be spraying the audience from their fire truck.

“We’re excited to provide this safety event and love giving back to the community,” states Patti Thompson, CCO of SLV Health.

Come out and enjoy, learn and have a good time at the 2017 Lids for Kids event hosted by SLV Health.
