SLV Health Opts Out of Aid In Dying
Access to Health Care
San Luis Valley Health has considered their role in participating and has chosen to Opt Out with Proposition 106, the Colorado “End of Life Options” Act that recently was approved by voters. Dr. Greg McAuliffe, Chief Medical Officer for San Luis Valley Health, commented on the Board of Trustees’ decision to opt out for both the Regional Medical Center as well as Conejos County Hospital. “We feel at this early stage, the protocol is too unclear and there is a lot unknown about our liabilities. As an organization, we’ll continue to monitor the guidelines and evaluate the landscape as the process develops.” The Board approved this policy at their January 25, 2017 meeting.
