Relay for Life
The 2016 San Luis Valley Relay for Life was a great success for the American Cancer Society and San Luis Valley Health. Eighteen teams showed up in total with 137 registered participants. A total of $17,335 was raised by the SLV community.
Over 30 SLV Health employees showed up with their friends and families to support this event that raises money for cancer research and to assist patients who are going through treatment. SLV Health raised $2,000 for the event and more donations are still coming in.
This year’s Relay for Life was held at Alamosa High School’s football and track field. Cancer survivor Ken Burt shared his story with the community, praising the work of caregivers everywhere who stand by cancer patients.
It is not too late to donate. Donations for this event will continue to be accepted through August 25th. If you are interested in being a part of the Relay for Life for the upcoming year, watch for invitations spring of 2017. San Luis Valley Health will be there to pack the track next year.
