Each year the American Hospital Association, in conjunction with the state hospital associations, recognizes the achievements of grassroots leaders with a prestigious Grassroots Champions Award. Konnie Martin was named the 2016 Grassroots Champion, being honored for her work over the previous year in effectively delivering the hospital message to elected officials; helping to broaden the base of community support for hospitals; and advocating tirelessly on behalf of patients, hospitals and communities.
Rick Pollack, President and Chief Executive Officer of the AHA commented, “Konnie has earned this special recognition through her dedication to the hospital mission, on both the local and the national level.” Konnie is pictured here with Steven Summer, the President, and CEO of the Colorado Hospital Association, after receiving her award at the annual meeting. Steve commented, “Konnie has been a reliable resource for CHA during our advocacy efforts, including driving to Denver to testify for committee hearings, often with little advance notice. She serves on the CHA Board of Trustees and has played an active role in engaging her community in important conversations about the future of health care. CHA is grateful for Konnie and the important role that she plays both for her own organization but also for the greater Colorado hospital and health system community.”
