SLV Health Provides Meaningful Use of Electronic Health Records
The providers and staff of San Luis Valley Health have hit every measure in the last reporting period for meaningful use of electronic health records.
According to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, “The Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Records Incentive Programs provide financial incentives for the meaningful use of certified EHR technology to improve patient care. To receive an EHR incentive payment, providers have to show that they are using their EHRs to meet thresholds for a number of objectives.”
SLV Health’s providers have hit each of the 17 required objectives in the latest reporting period.
Two of the required objectives include: “maintain and record smoking status for patients 13 years old or older” and “provide patients the ability to view online, download and transmit information about a hospital admission.”
“This has been a challenging program for hospitals across the country to implement successfully,” noted Dr. Greg McAuliffe, Chief Medical Officer at San Luis Valley Health. “We are excited about the progress our providers and staff have made and look forward to the upcoming phases of this program.”
