Successful Saturday for "Got Hair, Please Share" Event
This past Saturday, San Luis Valley Health Patient Navigator Theresa Curtis hosted an event titled “Got Hair, Please Share”. The event collected a total of 36 ponytails to be donated to Locks of Love.
Locks of Love is an organization that provides hairpieces to children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
The event was inspired by Curtis and her daughter Mariah, who suffers from Alopecia Areata, a condition in which hair is lost from some or all areas of the body, usually from the scalp.
Locks of Love has been so great to Mariah and our family, and we are just trying to pay it forward,” explained Curtis. In 2013, the organization paid for the Curtis family to take a trip to West Palm Beach, Florida.
“We were excited by the success of the event,” stated Curtis. “We would also like to thank San Luis Valley Health for their help in promoting this event.”
