Nicholas "Nick" Kohn, DO
Nicholas, “Nick” Kohn, DO, has joined the San Luis Valley Health Hospitalist team. He completed his internal medicine residency in Des Moines, IA at the MercyOne/PHC Consortium and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Burrell College in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
His undergraduate education was completed with a B.A. from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and he attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado to complete perquisites for medical school.
His philosophy as a Hospitalist, where the team rounds on inpatients in the Regional Medical Center in Alamosa, is to listen to the patient’s concerns. "I am drawn to inpatient medicine because I like to help care for and guide critically ill patients and their loved ones through an acute illness, which can be an incredibly challenging time both physically, mentally, and emotionally."
He is married to Katie (granddaughter of Dr. Littleton Bunch, an RN for SLVH) and they both enjoy living rurally in the San Luis Valley. In their free time, they love exploring the surrounding mountains and spending time with their ever-growing collection of animals.
